Mental health stuff...
When we look at my last post, it seems like my
mental health at some point went pretty low, isn’t it? Yeah, and its not a good
idea to keep it that low. Why? Because having an unhealthy mental will only
bring harm to you, and the people around you. Maybe that’s why I look like a
funny person.
According to the mental health website from the
United States, Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social
well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how
we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is
important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through
adulthood. The problems around it comes from biological factors, life experiences,
and family history. Mental health is common and there’s a lot of ways to get
help.
Nowadays, mental health is really common. People
all over the world gets some amount of mental unhealthiness one way or another,
especially the newest generation of humanity, the Gen Z. There has been some
news that says Gen Z is the most depressed. This means that the Generation Z is
the one that has the most mental health problems, sourced by the CHC Resource
library. Memes and jokes about death and suicide is really common in the
internet these days.
According to the information regarding Gen Z’
mental health problems, we should find a way to decrease the statistics. We need
to find out that our mental health is the utmost importance too. Having a good
mental healthiness should help us in doing everyday tasks, being productive,
coping with the hijinks of life, and communicate with other people. Now, we could
try some of the ways to improve our mental health such as these:
The US mental health website (www.mentalhealth.gov)
recommends the following: Getting professional help, connecting with others, staying
positive, getting physically active, helping others and getting enough sleep.
The UK mental health website (www.mentalhealth.org.uk)
also suggests: talking about your feelings, exercise, eat well, keeping in
touch, asking for help, taking a break, cultivating a hobby, and developing
self-acceptance. Another psychology website, Psychology Today (www.psychologytoday.com) also adds:
being focused, being positive, being open, and helping each other.
Currently, within these harsh times during the
Covid Pandemic, people have been adapting as hard as they can to survive. They also
need to keep their mental health at acceptable, or even great levels. Even though
mental health problems statistics are going up, we also should fight it to get
it lower and get mental healthiness go up. According to KFF (www.kff.org) tracking poll, 53% of adults in the United States reported that their
mental health has been negatively impacted due to worry and stress over the
coronavirus. This is significantly higher than the 32% reported in March, the first time this question
was included in KFF polling. Many adults are also reporting specific negative
impacts on their mental health and wellbeing, such as difficulty sleeping
(36%) or eating (32%), increases in alcohol consumption or substance use (12%),
and worsening chronic conditions (12%), due to worry and stress over the
coronavirus. As the pandemic wears on, ongoing and necessary public health
measures expose many people to experiencing situations linked to poor mental
health outcomes, such as isolation and job
loss. We should do the recommendation from various websites above to help
our mental health.
Personally, I play games, read books, and listen to livestreams of
my favorite people in the internet. They have kept my mental health in ok
levels for a long time. Yep, having a hobby really helps taking care of your
mental health. The saying when the going gets tough, the tough gets going
really shows in these Covid times.
